A man has been taken to hospital after a helicopter crash in far north Queensland.

Emergency services received reports of a helicopter crash and a small fire at a banana farm at Mission Beach about 6.10am on Thursday.

The man was suffering back and neck pain and would be taken to Innisfail Hospital, a Queensland Ambulances Services spokeswoman said.

A Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said there was smoke at the scene and firefighters sprayed foam where it appeared fuel had spilled on the ground.
