SYDNEY: The legendary spin wizard, Muttiah Muralitharan joins the Australian side as a spin consultant. The Aussie side is soon to face, a side with a brilliant spin attack and the series is scheduled for October in UAE.
Muralitharan is one of the best spin bowlers and also holds the record for most test wickets. In 2010, he made this record as he took his 800th test wicket against India and joined the ranks of other legends in the cricketing world. Australia has suffered from a good spin attack since Shane Warne retired from International Cricket.
The great spinner said, “I’m very much excited; I know the Australian team is a very good side, but hopefully I can have a little bit of input to help them do well in the series against Pakistan. Those conditions might help spinners and I know a few tricks that might help them on what to do as I have played a lot of matches in those conditions in the UAE and hopefully I can help them a little bit.”
Furthermore Darren Lehmann, the head coach said, “Not only will he help guide our spinners during that tour, but he will also work with our batsmen to help them prepare to play Pakistan’s dangerous spin bowlers.”
He has recently bought in many expert players to help the Australian side on their tours. Many consultants have helped the Australian team during practices including Shane Warne who consulted in the South African tour.
Muralitharan believes Saeed Ajmal to be a big threat as his spin bowling attack has troubled the best players of the world. However, the spinner said that he will especially work on Nathan Lyon who has bowled brilliantly in the past few matches. The series is scheduled from 3rd October to 1st November.
