A Queensland’s man’s face was shattered after the blade of an angle grinder broke while he was using it.

The man in his 30s was sharpening mower blades at Benarkin State School oval on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday morning when the angle grinder blade is believed to have broken, the RACQ CareFlight Rescue Helicopter team said.

Paramedics said the blade flew up and “shattered” the bones in his face and injured his eye.

He was flown in a serious but stable condition to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
