Fringe fever has already hit Adelaide with the official Ambassador handover taking place.
Four-time ARIA award winner Katie Noonan has been named as the official Ambassador for the 2014 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Noonan has been playing at the fringe since 1999 and says she’s honoured to take on the ambassadorship.
‘I’ve played at the Fringe almost every year since my first Fringe in 1999.
‘I thought the Adelaide Fringe was this fantastical and truly wonderful world of awesome folk,’ Ms Noonan said.
The Adelaide Fringe CEO and Director Greg Clarke says the role of the Ambassador is crucial for attracting interstate and international visitors as well as artists.
‘She is a true artist in every sense of the word and is a natural choice to be this year’s Fringe Ambassador,’ Mr Clarke said.
Katie’s got big shoes to fill taking the reigns from this years ambassador Paul McDermott who said it wasn’t easy to relinquish his throne.
‘I was hoping I could keep this job for many many more years,’ Mr McDermott said.
The Adelaide Fringe Festival runs for 6 weeks starting February 14 with the official program to be released November 29.
