Australia has been swept up in Bieber-fever, as the superstar played the first of eight Australian shows during the final leg of his worldwide Believe tour.
Bieber played to a sold-out crowd at Brisbane’s entertainment centre last night. He gave a a full set of his biggest hits, including the latest single Rollercoaster, which came out on Monday and is currently in the iTunes top 10 charts in 20 countries.
Screaming fans sang along to every word, all the while snapping photos and hashtagging away on Twitter. The main event featured Bieber on a beautiful white grand piano, and dancing with a troupe of back-up dancers and a long-haired guitar accompanist.
Bieber treated his fans to multiple outfit changes including a full white suit, a casual red singlet and multiple pairs of his signature gloves.
Opening for Bieber last night was 16-year-old Gold Coast singer Cody Simpson. Simpson has followed a similar career path to Bieber, having been discovered on YouTube at the tender age of 13, which then snowballed into international record deals, world travel and a loyal fanbase.
Justin touched down in Australia on Sunday. After announcing his arrival on Twitter, thousands of screaming fans took to both the streets and the internet to follow every move of the Canadian star.
Bieber arrived in Brisbane looking tanned and relaxed after a short holiday in sunny Hawaii, where he spent his time jumping off cliffs and spending time on the beach with his male entourage.
The 19-year-old YouTube-sensation-turned-bad-boy has gone to great lengths to lose his boyish image. Over the past two years, the fluffy hair and innocent smile has made way for tattoos, ripped abs and alleged escapades with Brazilian prostitutes.
As is the tradition for Bieber concerts, one lucky fan got to get up on stage and be serenaded during the intimate track One Less Lonely Girl, or OLLG (yes, the occasion has its very own acronym). To the envy of millions worldwide, the lucky lady received a bouquet of flowers and the chance to get up close and personal with the singer.
The crowd also enjoyed a few stripped-down, acoustic tracks – although that’s not the only stripping that received attention, with countless photos of the shirtless star inundating social media.
Bieber will be playing in Sydney on Thursday and Friday night, before heading to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
