Bloomberg’s new politics vertical kicked off on Sunday with a splashy new website and features, including a piece about Jeb Bush’s presidential ambitions and a video of Rep. Nancy Pelosi testing out and ranking chocolate ice creams.
Bloomberg also announced that Mitt Romney will take part in a live interview Monday evening for Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s debut episode of “With All Due Respect.”
The new Bloomberg politics website has a fresher feel than the rest of Bloomberg’s otherwise stodgy-looking site, with bright pastel colors, large graphics and extra-large video players. On the landing page, featured pieces are distinctly numbered from one to seven over a large image of Jeb Bush, who’s the focus of the No. 1 article. Other pieces on the page feature classic listicle headlines like “6 Things You Need to Know About Brown Vs. Shaheen” and “The 12 Families Who Have Given to Every Single Clinton Campaign.”
The new vertical, helmed by Halperin and Heilemann, is distinct from Bloomberg’s Washington coverage and is mostly based in New York. Halperin and Heilemann have picked up big names in media over the past few months to join them, including Sasha Issenberg, Dave Weigel, Mike Nizza, Tom Johnson, Pat King and Robert Gifford.
